Kayleigh Sprouse

Kayleigh Sprouse is known for her "attention-garnering voice" and expressive artistry, "adding delight to...production[s]" (OperaGene). Her recent operatic appearances include the role of Second Woman and First Witch in Opera Lafayette’s Dido and Aeneas, the premiere of Tim Holt’s Nobody Is Ever Missing with Mind on Fire at Baltimore’s Voxel Theater, the role of Diana in Cavalli’s La Calisto with Peabody Opera at the Baltimore Theater Project, Licenza in the modern world premiere of Reutter’s Dafne with Amherst Early Music Festival, and Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Chicago Summer Opera. An avid recitalist and curator, Kayleigh has created and performed in a wide range of programs, including The Cecilia Collective’s recital highlighting the forgotten lieder of Josephine Lang; Yearning, a program exploring Schubert and contemporary works by Wang Jie and David Biedenbender; and Harmony of Hope, a baroque recital with the TENET Trailblazers mentorship program. Kayleigh’s work often centers on vocal ensemble performance and the artistic capabilities of multiple solo voices, where she is well known for her "precise performances" and “stoic tone” (Washington Classical Review). She has sung with Peabody’s NEXT Ensemble under Dr. Beth Willer, is currently a core member of the Emmanuel Choir in Baltimore, and performed Bach’s motets and Mass in A Major as the soprano soloist with the Chorworks Young Artist Program. In the upcoming season, she will perform with the acclaimed Lorelei Ensemble and sing in the newly-formed vocal ensembles Anchorites and the Dualis Ensemble. Kayleigh holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance/Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Ah Young Hong, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Christopher Newport University under Dr. Rachel Holland. She currently resides in Baltimore, MD.
